This hidden gem is stocked with everything from jewelry to fine china to furniture, both formal and country.

Nocturne: Art at Night

Dear Nocturne, I need you.

For those of you who are unaware, Nocturne: Art at Night is an incredible festival in Halifax, Nova Scotia, showcasing our city’s most brilliant artists, photographers, performers, and musicians. Last year’s event brought an estimated 25,000 people to the downtown core to appreciate, participate, and facilitate. I was fortunate enough to be a member of Nocturne’s street team last year, and I cannot even begin to describe the vibrant and energetic atmosphere created by this unique event. Reports from City Hall on Wednesday stated that this festival, among others such as Hal-Con, won’t be receiving a grant this year. (Read about it here.) The declined events were said to have “fallen through the cracks of an increasingly bureaucratic points system of awarding grants”. Brad Anguish, the director of community and recreation services has said, “staff will be taking another look at supporting those events and a report will be back within a month.” Show your support for one of our city’s brightest lights on Facebook.
